Manitoba Harm Reduction Network

Harm Reduction can be defined as “A set of strategies and tactics that encourages people to reduce harm to themselves and their communities, through the sharing of relevant information, facts and practical material tools, that will allow them to make informed and educated decisions. It recognizes the competency of their efforts to protect themselves their loved ones and their communities.” (Harm Reduction Considered and Applied)

The Manitoba Harm Reduction Network is a coalition of over 100 member organizations interested in addressing the determinants of health and preventing the transmission of Sexually Transmitted Infections ( STI ) and blood borne infections (HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C) in Manitoba .

The mandate of the Manitoba Harm Reduction Network is to make recommendations regarding the development, implementation and evaluation of sexually transmitted ( STI ) and bloodborne infection prevention initiatives based on the principles of harm reduction for affected communities in the province of Manitoba.
